The City of Plymouth has plans to replace all lead and galvanized steel previously connected to lead service lines within the next 10 years.
In the last year, we have replaced over 25 lead and/or galvanized steel previously connected to lead service lines. We are currently working to replace more of these service lines every year until no existing lead or galvanized steel lines are connected to the system.

Review the enclosed flier for steps you can take to reduce your exposure to lead in drinking water.
In addition to your service line, other plumbing in your home may contain lead and could increase the levels of lead in your drinking water. These may include faucets, valves, and soldered joints. It is recommended that homeowners contact a licensed plumber and have a plumbing assessment done to determine if your in-home plumbing is a source of lead in your drinking water.
Please note, the City monitors the water quality annually, as required by EGLE, and has not exceeded lead or copper action levels.
Please visit Michigan.gov/MILeadSafe for more information about sources of lead and what you can do to reduce your exposure.

What is the City of Plymouth doing to reduce your risk?
- The City of Plymouth is supplied treated drinking water from Great Lakes Water Authority (GLWA). The treatment process done by GLWA adds protective elements to the water to prevent corrosion of plumbing pipes. GLWA is continuously working to optimize the drinking water treatment process and is currently increasing the corrosion control.
- Municipal Services is continuing to prioritize infrastructure improvements that include replacing lead and galvanized steel previously connected to lead water service lines. The cost to replace your service line will be covered by the water system.
- The City conducts annual water sampling and testing as required by EGLE. Locations with full lead service lines are prioritized for our compliance sampling. The City has not exceeded lead or copper action levels. If you have any questions about water sampling contact us.

For additional information about your water system or a copy of City of Plymouth’s Consumer Confidence Report, an annual report on what is in your drinking water, including lead and copper levels, can be found here.
Per EGLE regulations, we will continue to notify all locations served by a lead service line on an annual basis until the service line has been replaced.
