The City Clerk’s office is responsible for the following.
Public Records
Maintaining a public record of all official City documents including the City Charter and Code of Ordinances in accordance with the Michigan Record Retention Schedule and maintaining and City Commission meeting information and minutes.
Elections
Administering elections that take place in the City, maintaining voter records for the City, accepting voter registration applications, issuing and processing absentee ballots, and overseeing polling sites.
Freedom of Information Act (FOIA)
Fulfilling all non-police FOIA requests.
Other Services
Processing passport applications, accepting board and commission applications, performing notary services and issuing permits and licenses (non-Community Development related).
