City Road Conditions as of 6:00 a.m.
Published on Dec 5, 2024 06:38
First Responders from the City Department of Municipal Services have been working during the overnight hours to clear streets and parking areas from accumulated snow. It should be noted that as of 6:00 a.m. all Major Streets in the city have been treated with a mixture of road salt and a brine solution. The brine solution mix helps the road salt to be more effective at lower temperatures, currently in Plymouth it is 20 degrees with a wind chill of -2 degrees. There are also high winds and wind guests.
Municipal Services crews are also working on treating municipal parking lots, as well as the school routes. Drivers are urged to use caution when driving this morning. A reminder that elevated surfaces, such as bridges, overpasses and the Central Parking Deck in downtown will be slick, even though they have been treated. The elevation of these structures can cause these surfaces can re-freeze quickly, even after treatment. Use extreme caution when walking or driving on the Central Parking Deck or other elevated surfaces.
Remember to keep clear of the plow/salt truck, a new Michigan law requires drivers to stay at least 200 feet away from these working trucks.
