New Automated Trash and Recycling Carts
Published on Nov 10, 2024 09:39

As of Friday, November 8, we have received responses from over 300 people. Thank you!

On Monday, November 4, the City Commission authorized a new contract with our waste hauler, Priority Waste. As part of the new solid waste service, the City Commission authorized the purchase of new automated trash and recycling carts.
When the city began the original automatic trash cart program in 2014, the city passed out 65 gallon carts. Over the course of the years, you may have received a 95-gallon cart if we did not have 65-gallon carts in stock.

We plan to deliver the new carts after the first of the year; however, we have to order them soon, so please let us know what size as soon as possible. If you have multiple trash and recycle carts we will replace the same number as you currently have. The standard size for each of the trash and recycling carts is 65-gallons; however, the option is available to upsize to a 95-gallon cart for either trash and recycling or both. To help us with that, please fill out the form to indicate what size and quantity of the automated trash/recycle carts you want for your address. There is no cost difference between the 65-gallon and 95-gallon carts. Details on the size of the carts are provided below:

95 Gallon Millennium
Height: 41.25ʺ
Width: 29.38ʺ
Depth: 33.88ʺ

65 Gallon Edge
Height:42.375"
Width 25.125”
Depth 29.5”

This email is the second correspondence in a series of communications about the new carts in the city’s solid waste program.

We plan to switch out your old carts for the new carts after the first of the year. We will provide additional information about how we will pick up your old cart(s) and how we will deliver your new cart(s) in the coming weeks.

The solid waste program is not changing; there will still be weekly collection of trash and recycling, opportunity for large item pick up, seasonal collection of yard waste, year-round brush chipping service, fall bulk leaf collection, and Spring Clean Up.
