City Crews Continue Storm Cleanup - 4:15 p.m.

City Municipal Service crews continue to clean up areas that were impacted by last night's severe weather. As of 4:15 p.m., crews have cleared fallen trees that were blocking a dozen City streets including; Junction, Blanche, William, Spring, Karmada, Adams, Ann, Pacific, Evergreen, Auburn, Sunset, and Theodore. The largest of the storm damaged trees that was removed today had a base diameter of more than eight feet.

Crews are currently working to clear fallen trees from areas between Blanche and Farmer, including; Arthur, Irvin, and Blunk. Crews are also expected to clear Harvey between Farmer and Junction later this afternoon. DMS expects to have all streets cleared by the end of today.

Here are some reminders for residents working to clean up their property from the storms:

  • Do not go within 25 feet of any downed power lines. Call DTE at 1-800-477-4747 to report a downed line or visit www.outage.dteenergy.com/
  • Please place branches at the curb in bundles that can be picked up by one person. To speed up clean up efforts, please align all branches parallel to the curb.
  • Do not put any item in tree debris bundles that isn't tree debris.
  • The City is only responsible for downed trees located in between the sidewalk and the street. Trees located on private property are not the responsibility of the City. Residents can report downed City trees at [email protected]
DTE trucks

Additional DTE crews have recently arrived in the City and are evaluating the damage from last night's storms. DTE has informed City officials that 70% of power in metro Detroit is expected to be restored by tonight, with 90% to be restored by the end of the day on Thursday. DTE reports that more than 1,300 lineman from out of the state of Michigan have arrived in the state to help restore power to Metro Detroit.
