The Plymouth City Commission authorized the installation of five Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFBs) at its regular meeting held on May 2, 2022 at Plymouth City Hall. The authorization includes concrete work and installation of the pedestrian safety signals at the following intersections: Ann Arbor Trail and Evergreen, Evergreen and Penniman, Ann Arbor Trail and Forest, Starkweather and Liberty, and the Main Street mid-block crosswalk between Penniman and Ann Arbor Trail. Work on these intersections is expected to be completed this spring and summer.

The City Commission approved updates to the Room Rental Policy at the Plymouth Cultural Center. Changes to the policy include notification of video surveillance, updates to the cancellation policy, the prohibition of silly string, confetti and/or glitter, and an increase in the security deposit for events starting after 4 p.m.

The City Commission approved the hiring of a full-time Assistant Facility Manager at the Plymouth Cultural Center. The former employee working in this position recently departed unexpectedly. The hiring process is expected to begin immediately.

Other items of note from Monday's meeting include the approval of Third Quarter Budget Amendments, and the approval of the following four events: the Plymouth Farmers Market at The Gathering Saturdays from May 14 through October 22, the 6th Grade Farewell Picnic at Fairground Park on Friday, June 3, the Good Morning USA Parade in Downtown Plymouth on Monday, July 4, and Robots in the Park on Sunday, August 14.
