City Road Conditions as of 12:30 p.m.
Published on Jan 24, 2022 12:31
City Municipal Services crews have been working throughout the morning on treating the roadways as a result of this recent storm that hit at approximately 7:00 a.m. City Crews have treated all Major Streets in the City with a brine and road salt mix. Using this mixture will make the road salt more effective at current lower temperatures. Crews are continuing to plow major streets and place the brine/salt mixture down on the road surface.
Streets that have been treated include, Main Street, Farmer, Starkweather, Harvey, Ann Arbor Trail, Penniman, as well as portions of Union, Deer and Forest. While the streets have been treated they still are slush covered and drivers should use caution and allow for plenty of braking space between cars.
County roads around the City including, Sheldon Road, Mill Street, Plymouth Road, and Five Mile do not seem to have treated as of this report and they are snow and ice covered. Extreme caution is advised.
Drivers should be aware that on Harvey Street south of Linden and north of Sutherland on the the "S" curve there are two moving vans parked on Harvey and are actively loading at this time. Please use caution on these curves.
Residential side streets are snow covered and slick at this time. All downtown and Old Village municipal parking areas are open. The Plymouth Cultural Center lot was treated earlier in the day, but is snow covered at this time
Please remember to give snow and ice control trucks plenty of room to work and stay back at least 50 feet from trucks with their emergency lights activated.
