City Commission Meeting Summary - August 16

The Plymouth City Commission presented the Ruth Huston-Whipple Award for Civic Engagement to Jim Jabara at its August 16 regular meeting. The award is given annually to a member of the community who has positively impacted the quality of life in the City of Plymouth through his or her exceptional civic and/or philanthropic engagement. Jabara has served on many community boards including the Kiwanis Club of Colonial Plymouth, the Plymouth District Library and the Plymouth Historical Society, among many others. 

The City Commission approved six events at Monday's meeting. Approved events included:  Ladies Night Out on September 16, Scarecrows in the Park September 24-November 1, Heroes on Hines 5K Run/Walk on September 25, Susan G. Komen 3-Day Nation on October 17, Pumpkin Palooza on October 24, and the Main St. Tree Lighting/Salvation Army Red Kettle Kickoff on November 12.

The City Commission approved a liquor license transfer for Liberty Street Brewing in Old Village. The license and associated permits will be transferred from Norton X Brewing, LTD to Bearded Lamb, LLC. The new owners plan to occasionally use the upper level to host comedy, music and artistic events.

Other items of note from Monday's meeting include the authorization for Plymouth Canton Little League to host Bingo at the Plymouth Community Fall Festival in the Gathering on September 10, approval of additional Harvey Street easements for the 2021 Infrastructure Plan, and approval for roof repairs at City Hall.

In addition, Mayor Oliver Wolcott made a proclamation honoring recently retired police officer Tony Angelesanto. Officer Angelesanto served for 24 years.
