City Commission Meeting Summary - May 3

The Plymouth City Commission authorized administration to begin the process of hiring a new police officer at its May 3, 2021 regular meeting. The new hire will fill the open position left by an officer who recently retired.

The City Commission passed a resolution to recommend to the State of Michigan Liquor Control Commission the transfer of the Plymouth ROC's liquor license from J&S Hospitality, Inc. to Straight Family Hospitality, Inc. The new owner, who currently owns three restaurants in the Downtown Plymouth area, has indicated that he intends to keep the current format of the Plymouth ROC while evaluating operations.

The City Commission approved $8,206.27 for emergency repairs to one of the City's street sweepers. The sweeper was experiencing problems with the mechanical conveyer system. Repairs will be completed by Bell Equipment Company of Lake Orion.

Other items of note from Monday's meeting include the approval of an update to the employee handbook, approval of third quarter budget amendments and the approval of a change order for the Wilcox Foundation that will add new benches as part of the fountain project.
