City Road Conditions as of 6:45 a.m.
Published on Jan 20, 2021 06:45
City of Plymouth received a light dusting of snow overnight. The Department of Municipal Services pre-treated the city's Major Streets yesterday in advance of the overnight snow, which helped to keep the snow from binding to roadway surface and creating ice. Municipal Services crews are using a brine (salt water) solution this year to assist in "activating" the road salt and this results in the Department using less road salt during the winter season. For more information on brine, check out this You Tube video from our Brine Lab Brine Lab Video
Road crews returned to the roads at 6:00 a.m. and are currently focusing on treating the City's Major Streets, including Junction, Farmer, Harvey, Penniman, Ann Arbor Trail, Starkweather, and of course Main Street. Crews are also working on deicing the Central Parking Deck and other municipal parking areas at this time.
Residential side streets are snow covered and should be considered slick at this time. Persons who may be running or walking in the streets (not recommended) are advised to be sure to wear reflective gear and have safety lighting.
