Chapter 55 of the Code of Ordinances restricts the number and length of personal property sales. Property owners are limited to three sales per calendar year and each sale cannot exceed three days. No sales shall start prior to 7:00 a.m. or end later than 8:00 p.m. Property owners cannot place more than three signs advertising the sale throughout the City. Signage must be located on private property only and cannot be on any commercial or business property. All garage sales must be registered through the City and there is no fee.

Temporary Signage
Zoning Section 78-226 restricts the type, number, size, and placement of temporary signs. Temporary signs must be placed on private property and are prohibited from being placed in the right-of-way or on telephone poles.

General Property Maintenance/Blight
The City Commission adopted the International Property Maintenance Code (IPMC) which outlines the minimum standard to which a property must be maintained. Environment Code 34-27 requires property owners to prevent, reduce, or eliminate blight or potentially blighting factors. Items that contribute to blight may include but are not limited to inoperable vehicles, broken windows, storage or accumulation of junk, and vacant buildings that are not securely locked.

Grass and Weed Ordinance
Property Maintenance Code Section 18-751 requires every property owner and/or occupant to keep property free from weeds or plant growth in excess of eight (8) inches. In the case of neglect or refusal, the City may order the cutting and/or eradication of noxious grass and weeds, in violation of the ordinance, at the expense of the property owner, for not less than $150.

Snow Removal Ordinance
Property Maintenance Code Section 62-89 requires every property owner and/or occupant to clear sidewalks of snow and ice within 24 hours after the end of any accumulation of snow and ice. In the case of neglect or refusal, the City may order the removal of snow and ice, in violation of the ordinance, at the expense of the property owner, for not less than $150.
